The law of attraction is a universal law that man has known about for 6000
to 7000 years in some form or another.
Let's start with a definition of the law of attraction: things that are similar or
the same are attracted to each other.
Here are some of the ways we have talked about the law of attraction and
may have not realized it. You have heard the following expressions: "they
are all in the same boat", "as you sow so shall you reap", "what comes
around goes around", "misery loves company" (by the way, so does joy),
"the rich get richer and the poor get poorer", "it takes money to make
money" and "birds of a feather flock together"
These are all talking about the law of attraction.
Lets look at some real life law of attraction stories.
My wife and I lived in Mendon across the street from a man named Kevin.
When we moved to our new home, we moved across the street from a man
named Kevin.
At one of my workshops a woman asked me to show her an example of the
law of attraction. I said "Ok Karen, you are sitting next to a woman also
named Karen. And all of you on that side of the table have blue shirts on."
The Karen who asked the question told us that she had a different shirt on
and changed it to a blue one just before she left to come to the workshop.
At the workshops we have 10 -15 law of attraction matches like that all the
time.
One day at the furniture store, I had a customer buy something from me.
He had the new home coupon and he paid cash.
The very next customer lived on the same street as the previous one, had
the new home coupon, and paid cash. Coincidence? Coincidence is
another name for the law of attraction.
Synchronicity means when things line up or being in the right place at the
right time. This is also a reference to the law of attraction.
My father told me that when he was born on January 26th (1/26), his housenumber was 126.
I grew up at 25 Henry St. Marj, (my wife) lived at 25 Hilldale Rd.
Did you see the TV show Clash of the Choirs just before Christmas of 2007? I love seeing live events that are examples of the law of attraction. In the first night when they showed the auditions, the singers auditioning sang to each one of the celebrity's their own song. They sang "Survivor" to Kelly Roland. They sang " How am I Supposed to Live Without You" to Michael Bolton. As Patti LaBelle came up to the studio, the people waiting to audition outside on the street sang "Lady Marmalade" to her. Then so many sang it to her that she said "if I hear that one more time....."
At Blake Shelton's auditions two people sang Stevie Wonder's "Isn't She Lovely" At Nick Lachey's in Cincinnati a father and daughter sang "Fly Me to theMoon". In Houston at Kelly Roland's a young man also sang "Fly Me to the Moon", which is also a favorite jazz standard of mine. All around the country at different times people sang the same songs and they all ended up on this TV show. What are the odds?.... or maybe it's something else. It's the law of attraction.
Marj and I went to the Maine Diner for breakfast last summer. As we sat eating our breakfast the man at the next table told a joke I had heard a fewdays before that I thought was very funny. Marj who told it to me thought it was humorous, but not nearly as funny as I found it. So as I heard this joke again, the man and I were cracking up and Marj and his family were looking at us like "come on it's funny, but not that funny." ( It's a guy thing, especially that guy and me.) After breakfast we went over to the gift store next door. As we walked in, the song that I'd been humming was playing very softly in the store. (I have music matches all the time as you'll see when you read my book and come to the workshops.) As we looked around the gift store, I picked up a bag of chocolate covered blueberries and turned around to show Marj. Marj was turning to show something to me. In her hand she had a bag of the same blueberries.
Karen, of the blue shirt fame, and her boss were talking about their weddings. It turned out that they were both married on the same day, in the same year, in an outdoor ceremony. Karen and her husband took a plane to St. Thomas, while her boss and her boss's husband took a cruise ship. They both ended up staying in the same hotel. Another woman from their work was also married on the same day, but in a different year.
At the 2007 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Show, Eddie Veter of Pearl Jam was inducting R.E.M. During his speech he told the story of how Peter Buck and Michael Stipe met. Peter worked in a record store in Athens, Georgia, and Michael would come in often. They talked about Patti Smith, her records, her music, and how much they liked it. Along with R.E.M., Patti Smith was inducted into the same 2007 class.
This story was just sent in by one of our workshop attendees:
My friend who is a writer said he would do a story on my new kitchen because it has concrete countertops, and he would submit it to the Boston Globe South Edition. He asked me to send photos, so I had the kitchen professionally photographed. We played phone tag and email tag, and finally I just gave up. Then I thought I would submit the story myself (as you know from my questionnaire I am not the best writer). Anyway I just said in my mind that somehow I would just do it.
I work part-time at a lighting store and my designer friend came in and I said, “Oh our picture is in the hometown news for the Woman's Business Networking meeting”, and that made me think of the Globe. I took a piece of paper and made a note to myself to contact the Globe, and I put the note in my pocket.
Later on a man came in with long, long, gray hair in a braid, wearing work overalls. I was waiting on him and talking and talking and talking and I was being very helpful etc. While he was leaving he said, “By the way I write for the Boston Globe, and if you want I can do a story for you.” I yelled and screamed and gave him a hug and said, “The universe sent you to me!” And I told him about my kitchen and he called the Globe right there in front of me and said he had a great story for them. Can you believe it??? He also writes for two magazines- a New England one and one called Martha’s Vineyard Style.
I am so excited I can’t believe it!!! Thanks for supporting me and helping me,
Love, Karen
